Our fire safety accreditations, health and safety accreditation, ISO 9001:2015 quality management system, environmental management system, in addition to our memberships with some of the fire industries most respected bodies, are all testament to our investment in quality and in providing our customers with the very highest standards of service. The quality of the fire protection products and services we provide further enhances our commitment to quality and the safety of people, and the premises and locations they work in or visit. This is turn helps to protect people's livelihoods by, hopefully, ensuring that any fire doesn't escalate to the point of making a business potentially unviable or putting employees jobs at risk.

ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Accreditation    

Blackwood Fire have gained accreditation to the very latest ISO 9001 standard, having completed the transition from from BS 9001:2008 to BS 9001:2015 via our accreditation body, The British Standards Institution (BSI).

BAFE accreditations to:

  BS 5306 Part 3 – Code of Practice for the Commissioning and Maintenance of Portable Fire Extinguishers;

  BS 5306 Part 8 – Code of Practice for the Selection and Positioning of Portable Fire Extinguishers;

  BS EN ISO 9001 – Specification for manufacture, Installation and Servicing;

  SP101 – Quality Specification to ISO 9001 relating to the Contract Maintenance of Portable Fire Extinguishers

Since 1997, CHAS (The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme) has been helping to improve health and safety standards across the UK and safeguard organisations from risk.

They work in partnership with leading industry bodies and independent organisations to provide clients and contractors alike with a single solution for accreditation, risk assessment, supply chain management and industry training.

CHAS is an authority and trusted advisor on health and safety compliance, responsible for setting industry benchmarks and providing the new Common Assessment Standards.

Their stated aims are:

  • To standardise and simplify health and safety assessment for contractors
  • To support organisations in efficiently managing their supply chains
  • To deliver a full suite of supply chain management tools.

Members of the most respected UK Fire Industry Associations

In addition to the accreditations we maintain, Blackwood Fire are members of the following fire industry associations.

IFEDA - Independent Fire Engineering & Distributors Association.  Learn more about IFEDA.

Blackwood Fire are long time of members of IFEDA and also have a seat on the committee.

IFEDA, the Independent Fire Engineering & Distributors Association, was founded in 1989, to provide an independent representative body of fire trade companies.

IFEDA is completely unaligned to any manufacturer.

IFEDA requires that its members should achieve third-party accreditations as a means of continued membership. This ensures that the quality standards and workings of member companies and their technicians are independently assessed via UKAS approved schemes such as BAFE SP101 and BAFE SP203 etc.

FIA - Fire Industry Association. Who are the FIA?

The FIA is, according to their website, the largest fire protection trade association in the UK with 900+ members. 

They are a not-for-profit organisation. 

Their objective is to promote, improve and perfect fire protection methods, devices, services and apparatus. 

The FIA state that they achieve this through the representation of their members, providing technical support, guidance and opportunities for professional advancement through education and appropriate regulation.

They promote and shape legislation and the professional standards of the fire industry through close liaison with government and official bodies, as well as other key stakeholders.

They also provide funding for research projects in line with their principal objectives.
