Automatic Fire Suppression Systems Including Restaurant & Kitchen Fire Suppression Systems

We design, install and service automatic fire suppression extinguishing systems including kitchen & restaurant fire suppression systems.

In today’s complex workplace environments, the risk of fire seems to be increasing and equipment is now expected to work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It, therefore, requires constant monitoring. Following discussions with you, we can design and install a system that meets your exact requirements and arrange its installation with minimum disruption to your operations.

We design and install bespoke kitchen & restaurant fire suppression systems for restaurants, hotels, schools, universities and workplace & public kitchens, as well as in industrial, commercial and other types of premises.

Ongoing servicing and maintenance of your fire suppression system is also essential to ensure it is maintained to the required standard and we can provide the necessary servicing for you.

If you have a kitchen or restaurant fire suppression system that was not installed by us, that’s no problem. Contact us and we will be pleased to provide you with a FREE, NO OBLIGATION quote to service and maintain your current system.

Ansul R-102™ Restuarant Fire Suppression Systems are manufactured by Tyco and can be installed by Blackwood Fire Ltd, who are an authorised distributor.

Today’s high-temperature, high-efficiency cooking appliances, plus the use of hotter burning vegetable oils, poses a greater fire suppression challenge than in the past.

ANSUL® R-102 Restaurant Fire Suppression Systems meet the challenge and are the top choice of food service kitchens worldwide.

Knock Down Kitchen Fires Fast

The R-102 system incorporates a flexible design with an extremely effective ANSULEX Low pH Liquid Agent that quickly knocks down flames and cools hot

surfaces while generating a tough vapour-securing blanket that helps prevent reflash.

The R-102 system is designed to protect cooking equipment such as various types

of fryers, griddles, range tops, broilers, char-broilers and woks. It also detects and suppresses fire in ventilating equipment including hoods, ducts, plenums and auxiliary grease extraction devices.

Two Options for Flexible Protection

The appliance-specific design is one of the two protection options available with the R-102 restaurant fire suppression system. The most efficient fire protection is accomplished when nozzles are selected and aimed at specific hazard areas on each appliance. This method typically provides the most economical use of liquid agent, reducing the size or quantity of storage tanks and associated hardware.

Overlapping appliance protection is flexible and simple. Nozzles are arranged in a straight line, providing overlapping agent discharge patterns where appliances can be protected, even if they are replaced or rearranged under the hood.

APPLICATION EXAMPLES FOR THE ANSUL R-102 FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM INCLUDE:

  • Catering facilities
  • Cafes
  • Cafeterias
  • Casual and fine dining restaurants
  • Convenience stores
  • Delis
  • Diners
  • Fast food chains
  • Food courts
  • Food trailers and trucks

Firetrace® Fire Suppression System

The Firetrace System is manufactured by Firetrace Ltd, and installed throughout Wales and the West Country by Blackwood Fire Ltd, who are their authorised distributor.

What is the Firetrace® Fire Suppression System

Firetrace automatic fire suppression systems

THE PRINCIPLE OF FIRETRACE®:

The principle is a simple self-activating system that offers the widest versatility and is absolutely safe against malfunction, which results in the best cost-performance ratio. It does not rely on any complex electronics or any moving parts. Firetrace is the only system of its kind in the industry today.

HOW DOES FIRETRACE® WORK?

Firetrace® employs a flexible detection and delivery system called Firetrace® Tubing. The tubing is manufactured from specially processed polymer materials to achieve the desired heat detection and delivery characteristics.

The Firetrace® Tubing, which is pressurized, is placed within an enclosed area above potential fire hazards. Extinguishing mediums can be matched to the particular application. Various canister sizes are available and can be supplied attached to the Firetrace Tubing.

Direct Firetrace® system discharges the extinguishant directly from the burst hole in the tube, this will be the closest point to the fire, and will allow the fastest extinguishing time and minimum spread of the fire. The Indirect Firetrace® system discharges the extinguishant into the protected area via plumbed diffusers that are initiated by the Firetrace® tube bursting.

THE ADVANTAGES OF FIRETRACE®:

Firetrace® automatic fire suppression systems do not need any external energy / power supply. This makes it cost effective as no electrical installation / wiring is required. The Firetrace® system is always operative even during energy break down. The various methods of installation of the Firetrace® automatic detection tube allow adaptation to almost any object or fire risk that requires protection.

The Firetrace® automatic detection tube should be considered as a lineal heat / flame detector. When the temperature is increased to above 120°C or the Firetrace® automatic detection tube is touched by a flame the tube bursts and initiates the diffusion of the extinguishing medium.

The simple design of the Firetrace® automatic fire suppression system allows for a minimum of maintenance work. There is a greatly reduced risk of malfunction because there are virtually no moving parts, which reduces the risk of false alarms. The Firetrace® automatic detection tube is capable of working even when contaminated with oil, dust and debris as long as the contamination will allow heat to pass through to the tube.

The maintenance of Firetrace® automatic fire suppression systems is necessary to ensure system reliability, and the periodic discharge requirements are comparable with standard portable fire extinguisher. In comparison to traditional automatic fire suppression systems Firetrace® is inexpensive to install and because of the simple design it does not require specialist equipment or highly trained installers.

Vibrations or similar disturbances minimally affect the Firetrace® automatic fire suppression system since there are no mechanical function mechanisms or electric contacts, unlike traditional higher cost systems.

The system is listed by Underwriter’s Laboratories, Inc., (UL) and tested to Standard UL 300. And also approved by LPCB (LPS1223).The Amerex KP Restaurant System is a pre-engineered, wet chemical, stored-pressure type with a fixed nozzle agent distribution network.

The system agent is Amerex KP liquid fire suppressant, a potassium acetate based solution that suppresses cooking grease fires through both saponification and cooling. The agent has a pH of 9 or less and does not harm stainless steel surfaces.

In either automatic or manual actuation the system works in this manner: No links lines, no cables, no corners pulleys.

Uses single run of thermal responsive tubing that resists hood cleaning chemicals.

  1. When a fire starts, the detection network, consisting of fusible links or the manual pull station can be used, releasing a low pH agent throughout the hood, duct and onto the appliance.
  2. Either method of actuation will interrupt gas or electrical power to the appliances preceding system discharge.
  3. The Amerex KP agent quickly suppresses the fire and cools the fuel while securing the vapors with a smothering foam reaction.

The combination of the Amerex KP system and an Amerex Model 260 wet chemical extinguisher provide restaurants with a ONE-TWO attack against the threat of business loss due to cooking operation fires.

Either method of actuation will interrupt gas or electrical power to the appliances preceding system discharge.

The Amerex KP agent quickly suppresses the fire and cools the fuel while securing the vapors with a smothering foam reaction.
